Most creators are ghosting their email list without even realizing it. You do all this work to get someone to opt in and then? Crickets.
In this episode, I walk you through the exact 6-email welcome sequence I teach my clients to turn new subscribers into paying clients (without sounding like a robot or a salesy creep).
Plus, I’ll even give you my swipe file so you can steal the emails!
What You’ll Learn:
- The #1 mistake creatives make after someone opts in
- Why your freebie isn’t enough (and what to do right after)
- The 6-email sequence that builds connection and converts
- How to avoid the dreaded spam folder (hint: it’s not about design)
- Exactly what to send once the welcome sequence ends
- The simple rhythm to follow so you never ghost your list again
The Welcome Sequence That Wins Clients
What happens after someone joins your email list?
Do they hear crickets? Or do they immediately feel seen, understood, and ready to work with you?
If it’s the former—don’t stress. I’ll be showing you the welcome sequence that warms people up fast and turns subscribers into dream clients.
It’s the first few emails someone receives from you after signing up—and it’s one of the most powerful pieces of your marketing funnel.
When done right, your welcome sequence:
- Builds trust quickly
- Creates connection
- Starts a two-way conversation
- And gets people to take action
Let’s dive in.
Why You Need a Welcome Sequence
Imagine going on a great first date… and then never hearing from the person again.
That’s what it feels like when someone opts in to your freebie and then… nothing.
A welcome sequence is like your second, third, and fourth dates. It’s where you:
- Set expectations
- Share who you are and how you help
- Learn about them too
- And make it super easy for them to take the next step
Without it? You’re ghosting your warmest leads.
The 6-Part Client-Winning Welcome Sequence
Let’s walk through the exact emails to send and when.
1. Freebie Delivery – Email 1 (Send Immediately)
- Deliver the freebie as a link (not as an attachment).
- Reinforce the value and benefits of the freebie.
- Give them a warm welcome.
- Invite them to send you a DM on Instagram just to say hi.
2. Expect a Reply – Email 2 (Send on Day 2)
- Ask a simple, engaging question like, “What kind of business do you run?”
- Or “Are you just getting started, or ready to scale?”
- The goal here is to start a conversation.
- Make sure to tag them as part of the “welcome sequence” so they won’t get it again later.
3. Quick Win – Email 3 (Send on Day 5)
- Share a tip, strategy, or mindset shift that gives them an easy win.
- Provide real value they can apply right away.
- You can include a link to a blog post, video, or podcast episode for deeper insight (optional).
- Add a P.S. with a brief recap or another quick takeaway.
4. Dream Client Story – Email 4 (Send on Day 8)
- Tell a story about a real transformation.
- Start by describing the struggle faced.
- Show what changed along the way.
- End with the results achieved and include a clear CTA to book a call or take the next step.
5. Shift Beliefs – Email 5 (Send on Day 11)
- Challenge a common myth or misconception.
- Share your unique perspective or experience.
- Leave them with something to reflect on that reframes their thinking.
- In the P.S., include a soft call to action.
6. The Snappy Email – Email 6 (Send on Day 14)
- Keep this one short and punchy—straight to the point.
- Ask if they’d like help achieving a specific result: “Hey [First Name], want help with [result]? Reply with [keyword].”
- Or: “Got 2 client spots open next month. Want in? Hit reply.”
- This is your “shake the tree” email—it’s meant to prompt those who are ready to say yes.
